The Silk Road Partnership
The Silk Road Partnership combines two well respected and established practices - the STG Group, founded in Hong Kong over ten years ago by Nigel Cumberland and that of Philip Beddows, which has operated in the City of London since the 1990s, having developed from BG Consulting Group.
The two have worked together for many years in the past so The Silk Road Partnership represents the formal reunification of an old partnership, with new additional partners added along the routes of the ancient Silk Road.
The STG Group - renamed the Silk Road Partnership
Originally called the St. George’s Group and later the STG Group, the business has changed its name to The Silk Road Partnership, in line with its European partners.
STG Group was created in the late 1990s, by Nigel Cumberland, and was initially based out of Hong Kong in the iconic St. George’s Building overlooking Victoria Harbour. At the time Hong Kong had only just returned to Chinese sovereignty after being under the rule of the United Kingdom for so many decades. The creation of the Silk Road Partnership captured this coming together of the East and West and the re-emergence of the actual Silk Road trading route running between Europe, the Gulf and Asia.
In the early years of the business in Hong Kong, we would quote an ancient Chinese saying “an army of a thousand is easily found but not so a general.” In many ways our focus has been to help realize and maximize the potential ‘Generals’ existing in all of our clients – both corporate and individual.
In addition to its core executive coaching and leadership development practice, STG Group used to also comprise a multi-award winning executive search practice which was spun-off in a sale to Hays plc. in May 2006.
